Aspect Ratios

The Aspect Ratios section of the Content Settings screen allows you to configure the aspect ratios that users may choose from when configuring Display Servers, Playlists and certain bulletin types.  An aspect ratio is the ratio of width to height.  AxisTV uses this information when applied to a bulletin to properly draw the bulletin on different devices.  You can only add new aspect ratios if your current licensing supports it.

Click the plus (+) button to expand the section.

Click the minus (-) button to collapse the section.

Each aspect ratio is identified by a name.  Normal (4:3) is a special name that is reserved for the default aspect ratio that comes with AxisTV.  You are free to name additional aspect ratios using naming conventions you establish.  Names cannot exceed 20 characters.

Each aspect ratio has a default width.  This width should be the most common width that you intend to use on displays that support the aspect ratio.

Each aspect ratio has a default height.  This height should be the most common height that you intend to use on displays that support the aspect ratio.

You are free to specify a maximum number of text lines that you believe would fit and be easy to read for all aspect ratios.  The system uses this number to warn users when they create bulletins that have "too many" lines of text or use fonts that are "too small".

Each aspect ratio can specify a pacing of words per minute.  This pacing is used to calculate the total time a bulletin should display when scheduling bulletins with text.  This word pacing has no meaning for graphic or video bulletins.  The user is always free to ignore Automatic Pacing and specify a time limit manually.

After changing one or more attributes of a aspect ratio click Change to force an update.

After entering the information for a new aspect ratio click Add.
