Manage Users

The Manage Users screen helps you manage users that are allowed access to the AxisTV system.  In order to view this screen you must be an administrator with the correct privileges.  This screen lets you add, change and remove users completely from the system.

As an administrator you can choose the user you wish to modify or delete by picking from the dropdown list.

If a user account needs to be deleted you can click the Delete button.  You will be prompted to confirm this action.  Note that when you delete a user that has created bulletins and crawls that are still in the system, you become the owner of those bulletins and crawls.  You can then delete them using the My Bulletins and My Crawls screens.  This conservative approach is taken to ensure that no bulletin or crawl that should be kept is accidentally deleted.

If you need to create a new user account, you simply enter a new name, limited to 20 characters then click Add.  The new user account will be created with a password of password with no assigned Playlists, Crawllists or roles.  The new user will be selected immediately after adding so you can configure the remaining settings.

While updating user accounts you can click Apply Changes at any time to apply all changes to existing accounts.  This button does not work for deleting or adding users.

Assigned Playlists

This section contains controls that allow you to manage the playlists that a user can access.  Access can be limited to viewing and not submitting bulletins to the playlist (by the roles).  Use the and buttons to move selected playlists between the included and excluded lists.

The default playlist is selected as the primary playlist when a user is submitting bulletins.  This is the playlist they are most likely to use most often.

Assigned Crawllists

This section contains controls that allow you to manage the crawllists that a user can access.  Access can be limited to viewing and not submitting crawls to the crawllist (by the roles).  Use the and buttons to move selected crawllists between the included and excluded lists.

E-Mail Address

Enter the user's full email address in the form emailname@domain.  If you need assistance please consult your network administrator.  This email address is used by AxisTV to notify the user of events and to optionally accept bulletins from the user's email account.

Roles

This section contains controls that allow you to manage the roles assigned to a user.  Each role is a collection of privileges.  Each privilege is a named right that grants the user the ability to perform a specific action within the system.  The Manage Roles screen lets you adjust the meaning of a role by changing its assigned privileges.  On the Manage Users screen you can assign one or more roles to the user.  When you assign multiple roles to the user they get all the privileges from all the roles combined.  Use the and buttons to move selected roles between the included and excluded lists.

E-Mail Bulletin Submission

This section configures the parameters used by the optional AxisTV E-Mail Plugin, which polls for bulletins created by email messages.

Pick up to 5 different backgrounds that are used by the AxisTV E-Mail Plugin when creating bulletins from the user's email messages.  The backgrounds are used sequentially, in order.  Each bulletin gets only one background.
